Translation
to hide, conceal
Examples
.
He hid the money under the bed.
.
She hid her face with her hands.
.
The boy hid behind the tree.
.
Do not hide the truth from me.
.
They hid the letter in the garden.
is transitive and stays transitive: it always needs an object. English lets you say "the boy hid" with nothing after it, but Esperanto makes you say what got hidden, so it is sin or is. Note also that you hide a thing someone, not from them, which reads backwards to an English eye. The root is generous: kaŝe means secretly, o is a hiding place, and describes anything concealed.
