is transitive and takes per for whatever you cover the thing with. In the passive both and per are current, the first stressing the agent and the second the material. The prefix does something slightly surprising here: means both to uncover and to discover, since finding something out is a matter of taking the lid off. o is a lid or a blanket depending on what you are covering, and i is what the sky does when the clouds come in.
