The water words line up neatly by size: sits between o, the pond you get with the diminutive -, and , the sea. A flows, a stays put, and Esperanto keeps that distinction as firmly as English does. Switzerland's lakes gave the early Esperanto congresses their postcard backdrops, so has a certain movement nostalgia to it. The adjective laga exists but is rare; you will mostly meet the noun plus a preposition.
