is transitive and does two jobs: leaving something somewhere, and letting someone do something. is let me go; is the more formal allow. Note that is not the intransitive leave - departing is , and abandoning is . Watch the position too: with no -n on , because the book is not moving to the table in the sentence, it is simply there. And despite the spelling, this root is unrelated to .
