From French voile, itself from Latin vela, the plural of velum ('sail, curtain, covering'). English reveal is the same root with re- in front: to un-veil something.

covers the whole family of thin coverings, from a bride's veil to the vualo of mist in the second example, and the verb vuali means to veil or to obscure. Do not reach for it when you mean a headscarf as an item of dress: that is kaptuko, literally a head-cloth. Note the spelling too, vu-a-lo with three syllables and no ŭ, which is a common slip for learners who have met .
