Ta is the feminine singular informal second-person possessive adjective in French, meaning "your" when the thing possessed is grammatically feminine and the speaker is on tu terms with the listener: ta soeur (your sister), ta voiture (your car). Use votre instead in formal contexts or when addressing more than one person, regardless of the noun's gender.
Like its siblings ma and sa, ta swaps to the masculine form ton before a vowel or mute h to avoid hiatus: ton amie (your friend, feminine), ton histoire (your story). This is a phonetic rule, not a gender override, and it trips up beginners who hear ton and assume a masculine noun. The plural tes covers both genders. See the French possessives guide for the full nine-form set.
