个人简历(gè rén jiǎn lì) - CV (curriculum vitae) in Mandarin

个人简历 (gèrén jiǎnlì) is a CV, a curriculum vitae. It is built from two pieces: 个人 (gèrén), "personal, individual", and 简历 (jiǎnlì), "resume, summary of experience" on its own, from 简 (jiǎn), "simple, brief", and 历 (lì), "to experience, a record of". Put together, it is literally "a personal brief record", exactly what a CV is.

In everyday speech, people often drop 个人 and just say 简历 (jiǎnlì), the same way an English speaker shortens "curriculum vitae" to "CV". Both forms are correct, but 个人简历 is the fuller, more formal version you will see printed at the top of a template or on a job-application website.
