计算器(jì suàn qì) - calculator in Mandarin

计算器 (jì suàn qì) is a calculator, from 计算 (jì suàn, to calculate) and 器 (qì, tool, implement), the same 器 (qì) found in 乐器 (yuè qì), musical instrument, and 武器 (wǔ qì), weapon. It names the small handheld device school pupils carry into a maths exam.
