意大利语(yì dà lì yǔ) - Italian, the Italian language in Mandarin

意大利语 (Yìdàlìyǔ) is Italian, built the regular way: 意大利 (Yìdàlì), Italy, the country name transliterated from the sound of "Italy", plus 语 (yǔ), "language".

Because the country name itself is four syllables, this is one of the longer language words on the site, and learners sometimes shorten it in speech, though there is no accepted short form the way English has 英文 for 英语. You simply say the whole thing.
