As with other body parts, the article usually does the work of the possessive: needs no , because whose mouth it is could hardly be in doubt. Buŝa means oral, so a buŝa ekzameno is a viva and buŝe means by word of mouth. The geographical sense carries over too, since a river has a where it meets the sea, though enfluejo is more precise. A mouthful is a buŝpleno.
