is the tidy way to say "there is" and "there are", and it is often better than a bare , which can leave the sentence looking like it has lost its subject. reads cleanly where needs the reader to work slightly harder. It is intransitive and takes no object at all. Ekzisto is existence, o the ongoing business of it, and neekzistanta covers things that are not there.
