esti

The verb every other language makes irregular is, in Esperanto, exactly as regular as the rest: estas for the present, estis for the past, estos for the future, estus for the conditional, estu for the imperative, esti for the infinitive. One form per tense, the same for every person, so mi estas, vi estas and ili estas all look identical. The one real trap is the accusative: what follows esti is a complement, not an object, so it never takes -n. Write li estas bona homo, never li estas bonan homon.
