covers both the geometry and the manner: a straight line and a straight answer take the same word. The trap for English speakers is the look of it - rekt- suggests right, and it is nothing to do with , the right-hand side. Watch the direction endings in the third example: and both take -n because they mark movement towards, not position. i is to straighten, a crooked or roundabout, and the adverb that does most of the daily work.
