savoir or connaître?
Both are to know. French has no article on this, so this is where the course draws the line.
The rule
is knowing a fact that comes as a whole clause (, , , ...), or knowing HOW to do something, with an infinitive. is being acquainted with a PERSON or a PLACE, and it takes a plain noun. A clause or an infinitive after it means ; a person or a place means .
