星期六(xīng qī liù) - Saturday in Mandarin

星期六 (xīngqī liù) is Saturday: 星期 (xīngqī, "week") plus 六 (liù, "six"), the first full day of the weekend.

It carries the same freedom in Mandarin as in English: 星期六我不用上班 (xīngqī liù wǒ bú yòng shàngbān), "I do not have to work on Saturday", with 不用 (bú yòng, "do not need to") doing the work of "don't have to".

星期六 (xīngqī liù) and 星期天 (xīngqī tiān, "Sunday") together make up 周末 (zhōumò, "the weekend") - the pair is worth learning together, since Mandarin has no single word that means "weekend" without naming the two days or using that compound.
