有钱没时间

Story

美měi玲líng有yǒu钱qián，可kě是shì没méi有yǒu时shí间jiān。她tā每měi天tiān工gōng作zuò，很hěn忙máng。

Mei Ling has money, but no time. She works every day and is very busy.

她tā的de朋péng友yǒu小xiǎo高gāo说shuō：「街jiē上shàng有yǒu一yī个gè老lǎo板bǎn，东dōng西xī很hěn好hǎo，钱qián也yě少shǎo。」

Her friend Xiao Gao says: "There is a shopkeeper on the street; the goods are good and the prices are low."

可kě是shì小xiǎo高gāo又yòu说shuō：「你nǐ要yào小xiǎo心xīn。那nà个ge人rén也yě许xǔ会huì骗piàn你nǐ。」

But Xiao Gao also says: "You must be careful. That person might cheat you."

美měi玲líng听tīng了liǎo，心xīn里lǐ很hěn难nán想xiǎng。去qù看kàn看kàn，要yào花huā时shí间jiān。她tā大dà概gài没méi有yǒu那nà个ge时shí间jiān。

Hearing this, Mei Ling finds it hard to decide. Going to look would take time, and she probably does not have that time.

她tā想xiǎng：我wǒ有yǒu钱qián，可kě是shì没méi时shí间jiān。这zhè个ge东dōng西xī，到dào底dǐ值zhí不bù值zhí得dé？

She thinks: I have money but no time. Is this thing worth it or not?

虽suī然rán她tā很hěn忙máng，但dàn是shì她tā还hái是shì想xiǎng去qù看kàn看kàn。

Although she is very busy, she still wants to go and take a look.

这zhè一yī天tiān，美měi玲líng走zǒu到dào那nà个ge街jiē上shàng。她tā有yǒu点diǎn害hài怕pà，怕pà那nà个ge老lǎo板bǎn会huì骗piàn她tā。

This day, Mei Ling walks onto that street. She is a little afraid, afraid the shopkeeper will cheat her.

到dào了liǎo以yǐ后hòu，她tā发fā现xiàn，老lǎo板bǎn看kàn起qǐ来lái很hěn好hǎo。东dōng西xī也yě是shì真zhēn的de，差chà不bù多duō跟gēn小xiǎo高gāo说shuō的de一yí样yàng。

When she arrives, she finds the shopkeeper seems kind. The goods are genuine too, almost exactly as Xiao Gao said.

老lǎo板bǎn说shuō：「我wǒ做zuò生shēng意yì很hěn多duō年nián了liǎo。我wǒ不bú会huì骗piàn你nǐ。」美měi玲líng明míng白bái了liǎo，这zhè个ge人rén是shì真zhēn的de。

The shopkeeper says: "I have done business for many years. I will not cheat you." Mei Ling understands that this man is honest.

她tā买mǎi了liǎo一yī个gè东dōng西xī。其qí实shí钱qián用yòng得dé不bù多duō，可kě是shì她tā很hěn开kāi心xīn。

She buys one item. In fact she does not spend much money, yet she is very happy.

美měi玲líng对duì老lǎo板bǎn说shuō：「谢xiè谢xiè你nǐ。我wǒ本běn来lái怕pà来lái这zhè里lǐ。」

Mei Ling says to the shopkeeper: "Thank you. I was afraid to come here at first."

离lí开kāi的de时shí候hòu，老lǎo板bǎn送sòng给gěi她tā一yì点diǎn东dōng西xī。东dōng西xī很hěn简jiǎn单dān，可kě是shì让ràng她tā心xīn里lǐ很hěn高gāo兴xìng。

As she leaves, the shopkeeper gives her a small gift. It is simple, but it makes her very happy.

回huí家jiā以yǐ后hòu，美měi玲líng告gào诉sù小xiǎo高gāo：「你nǐ的de话huà我wǒ听tīng了liǎo，可kě是shì我wǒ也yě自zì己jǐ去qù看kàn了liǎo。」

Back home, Mei Ling tells Xiao Gao: "I listened to you, but I also went to see for myself."

她tā说shuō：「有yǒu时shí候hòu，要yào花huā点diǎn时shí间jiān去qù看kàn看kàn，才cái知zhī道dào值zhí不bù值zhí得dé。」

She says: "Sometimes you have to spend a little time looking before you know whether something is worth it."

小xiǎo高gāo笑xiào了liǎo。美měi玲líng也yě笑xiào了liǎo。有yǒu钱qián没méi时shí间jiān，可kě是shì这zhè一yī次cì，她tā用yòng对duì了liǎo时shí间jiān。

Xiao Gao smiles. Mei Ling smiles too. Money but no time - yet this once, she spent her time well.
