Spanish · Chapter 16 · Lesson 15 · Common mistake
algún or alguno?
The word loses its ending in front of a noun, and only there.
The rule
alguno drops its last vowel before a MASCULINE SINGULAR noun and becomes algún: algún día, algún problema. Standing on its own, with no noun after it, it stays whole: alguno de ellos. The same shortening hits ninguno, bueno, malo and primero, and only ever directly in front of the noun.
