bajo or debajo de?
Only one of them is about physical position.
The rule
debajo de is physical position: debajo de la mesa. bajo is abstract, and lives mostly in set phrases: bajo control, bajo la lluvia, bajo mucha presión. If you could point at the gap between two objects, you want debajo de.
