.
She had never met such a person.
.
He met many dangers during the journey.
?
Where did you meet your friends?
is transitive: one person runs into another, and the other one is the object. For a mutual meeting, where nobody is doing it to anybody, you need i, so is is correct and leaves the sentence hanging. The noun o is an encounter or a get-together, which is not the same as , a formally convened meeting with an agenda. And the verb happily takes abstract objects, so you can meet difficulties, dangers or resistance exactly as in English.
