Eh est une interjection d'interpellation ou d'approbation selon le contexte. Eh ! (hey!) attire l'attention ou proteste contre quelque chose. Eh bien (well) introduit une réponse, une réflexion ou une conclusion et est très fréquent comme marqueur de transition dans la conversation.
Eh oui (yes indeed, well yes) et eh non (well no, unfortunately not) expriment une confirmation ou un démenti résigné. À ne pas confondre avec et (and) à l'écrit - homophones en français standard mais distincts graphiquement. Dans certaines régions, hé (avec accent) est utilisé pour l'interpellation directe.
