knee

Examples

.

The child fell and hurt his knee.

.

He fell to his knees before the king.

.

Her hand rested on my knee.

doloras .

My knees ache after the long walk.

.

The water reached our knees.

Note the accusative in : movement towards a position takes -n, while resting there does not, so has no ending at all. That contrast is the whole of the directional accusative in one pair of phrases. The verb is i, to kneel, with i for the moment of dropping down. Esperanto has no separate word for a lap, so a child sits of a parent, and the same phrase covers both meanings.
