Story

Carmen . , . , . Carmen , . . , .

Today Carmen leaves home very early. She has to go to work, but first she wants to go to the place of always. It is a small place, near her house. Carmen goes there every morning, for a long time. And every morning she has the same thing. A little water, nothing more.

Carmen . . . . . Carmen . , .

Carmen arrives and looks at the door. There is something new. The old man from before is not there. There is a new woman. She seems very nice. But Carmen has not seen her before. She looks at her for a moment and then goes to her usual spot, beside the door.

", ," Carmen. " , ."

"Hello, good day," says Carmen. "The same as always, please."

. " ". . . .

The woman looks at her. She does not know what "the same as always" is. It is her first day here. But she wants to do things well. She says yes.

", , ," . , Carmen. . .

"Yes, of course, right away," says the woman. And after a moment, she has something for Carmen. But it is not water. It is something else.

Carmen . . . .

Carmen looks at the new thing. She looks at it again. She says nothing for a moment. Then she speaks.

" . . . ."

"But this is not the same. I always have water. Only water. Nothing more."

. ", . , . ¿ , ?"

The woman makes a sad face. "Oh, no. I am new here, I do not know anything. Can you tell me what you want, please?"

Carmen . ", , . . , . , ."

Carmen makes kind face. ", , it is fine. It does not matter. It is water, nothing more. An old woman like , all day with water."

. Carmen . . , , . . , , .

The two talk a little. Carmen tells her her name. The new woman does too. The old man, the one from before, is no longer here. This woman is his girl. Her father does not want to do this work any more, and now she is here, in his place.

" ," Carmen. " . , . ."

"Well, very good," says Carmen. "I come every morning. Tomorrow again, and again after that. Now you know what I want."

. Carmen . , .

The woman makes her the water. Carmen leaves the money on the door and goes. The day seems a little better, although the place of always is no longer quite the same.
