Translation
Friday
Word origin
From French vendredi, from Latin Veneris dies, the day of Venus. Zamenhof took the Romance weekday names rather than building them, so the planetary gods survive inside the week.

Examples
.
I work until Friday.
Vendrede .
On Friday evening we go to the theatre.
.
Friday is the last day of our week.
The day names are borrowed, not built, so simply has to be learned. The adverb form does the work English needs a preposition for: vendrede is on Friday, and ĉiuvendrede every Friday. Note that Esperanto capitalises neither days nor months, so stays lower case mid-sentence. The wider machinery of dates and times sits in the time expressions article.
