Infinitive or subjunctive: the same-subject rule
When the subjects match, French demands the infinitive and forbids the subjunctive: je veux partir, never je veux que je parte; pour partir vs pour que tu partes; avant de partir vs avant qu'il parte; sans le savoir vs sans qu'il le sache.
