Bad words wound more than blows.
This is where most learners first see what - is for. Esperanto needs no separate root for bad, because the prefix reverses cleanly, and the same trick then hands you , , , and a few hundred more from words you already know. It is the best return on effort the language offers. The branch continues: o is evil as a noun, o a villain, i to spoil something, to curse.
