How Brazilian Portuguese works

The short version

• This course teaches Brazilian, deliberately and explicitly. The two varieties diverge enough that teaching one without naming it is a disservice.
• The grammar is familiar Romance territory. Gendered nouns, conjugated verbs, no cases. Nothing here will shock a Spanish or French learner.
• The difficulty is almost entirely in the sound. Nasal vowels English has no equivalent for, and a spoken form further from the written one than you expect.
• This is a 100-word starter course, enough to read simple Portuguese and decide whether to continue.
