Word origin
From Hebrew shabbat, the day of rest, through Latin sabbatum. It is the one weekday name in Esperanto that is not Roman: the rest carry the planets and the gods, and this one carries the seventh day of Genesis.

Days take -e to say when: sabate means on Saturdays, dimanĉe on Sundays. That adverb is regular and worth having, though this page's examples stick to the plain noun.
