Papa est le terme affectif et familier pour le père, équivalent de dad ou daddy en anglais. Il est utilisé par les enfants comme par les adultes dans un registre intime et chaleureux. Papa est invariable et toujours masculin.
Fils à papa (daddy's boy, privileged child) est une expression légèrement péjorative. Papa poule (hands-on dad, doting father) est l'équivalent masculin de maman poule. Jouer au papa et à la maman (to play house, to play mum and dad) est le jeu classique des enfants. À l'oral, mon papa et simplement papa coexistent naturellement.
