Translation

oneself (reflexive)

Examples

.

He saw himself in the mirror.

.

She talks about herself.

.

They did it for themselves.

.

He looked at his own hand.

.

He sees only himself.

Si is the reflexive pronoun, and it follows one strict rule: it points back to the subject of its own clause and can never be that subject itself. Li vidis lin means he saw some other man, while li vidis sin means he saw himself. Add mem for emphasis (pri si mem), and use the adjective form sia for "one's own".
