li

Li is the masculine third-person pronoun, with the object form lin and the possessive lia. Where English lets "he ... his" be ambiguous, Esperanto is precise: if the possessor is the subject of the same clause you must switch to sia, so li vidis lian manon is another man's hand and li vidis sian manon is his own. The same split runs through the object pronoun, li vidas lin against li vidas sin.
