est un adverbe de temps qui marque l'antériorité ou exprime la surprise face à la rapidité. Il se place généralement après le verbe conjugué ou après l'auxiliaire dans les temps composés : j'ai déjà mangé (I've already eaten). Dans les questions, il peut signifier yet : as-tu déjà fini ?

Déjà-vu (already seen) est entré dans la langue mondiale pour désigner le phénomène psychologique de la réminiscence. C'est du déjà-vu (it's nothing new, we've seen this before) s'utilise pour critiquer le manque d'originalité. À l'oral familier, déjà en fin de question sert à demander une information qu'on a oubliée : c'est quoi déjà ton prénom ?
