Esperanto does not need a separate root for opening: - reverses and you are done. The verb is transitive, so somebody has to do the opening. For a door that swings open by itself, add --: is. English has a plain adjective "open" and Esperanto does not, so the participle stands in: means opened and therefore open. New learners sometimes reach for aperta from Romance languages, which is not a word here.
