English needs "look at", but Esperanto rigardi is straightforwardly transitive: the thing you look at is the direct object and carries -n. That is why it is mi rigardas vin rather than mi rigardas al vi. Keep it apart from vidi, which is seeing whether you meant to or not, while rigardi is the deliberate act of turning your eyes on something.
