This morning, Léa is late. She hurries down the street. She wants to take the nine o'clock coach to go to work. She is afraid of being late.

But when she reaches the place where the coach stops, it is too late. The coach leaves without her. Léa watches it leave. She is not happy. "No, no, no," she says.

Near her, there is an old lady. She is waiting too. The lady has a kind face and calm eyes. She speaks to Léa, very gently. "It left without you too?" she asks. "Yes," says Léa. "And I am late."

" ' ," vieille . " . , ." gentille. Léa '.

"It is not so bad," says the old lady. "We have an hour. Let us talk a little, if you like." The lady is kind. So Léa stays near her.

The old lady is called Colette. She talks about her life, her city and her three children. Léa listens. It is a lovely story. Little by little, she forgets the cold and her fear.

Then Léa talks too, about her work and her friends. The two women talk and talk. Léa is happy. She no longer thinks about the cold.

The hour passes quickly. Too quickly. When the next coach arrives, Léa is almost sad. "Thank you, Colette," she says. "You are very kind." Colette gives Léa her number. "Call me. We will have a coffee together."

On the coach, Léa thinks about her day. This morning, the first coach left without her. But now she is happy. Sometimes a bad thing becomes a good thing. She is late, yes. But she has a new friend.

The coach reaches the city. It is less cold. There is even a little sun. Léa gets off the coach and goes to work. It is a very good day.
