What am I to do?

Fari covers both "to do" and "to make", and like havi it is transitive, so its object carries -n: kion vi faras? Swap the ending for the volitive -u and you get a deliberation, so kion mi faru? is "what am I to do?". The same root gives fariĝi, "to become", once the -iĝ- affix is added.
