Written with a capital and no other context, means one specific book: Zamenhof's of 1905, the sixteen rules, the grammar and the base word list that the language agreed not to change. That is why the word carries more weight among Esperantists than "foundation" does in English, and why reads as untouchable rather than merely basic. Do not confuse it with , the bottom of something: they look like a pair but do different jobs, and a is what a building stands on.
