Pli is the comparative marker. Put it in front of an adjective or an adverb and follow with ol for the thing compared: li estas pli granda ol mi. Before a quantity it teams up with da, as in pli da tempo. Its superlative partner is plej, so pli bona is "better" and la plej bona is "the best".
