Monde a deux sens principaux : le monde (globe, Earth) et les gens, la foule (il y a du monde). Tout le monde (everyone, everybody) est toujours suivi d'un verbe au singulier en français standard. Pas grand monde (not many people) et grand monde (many people, high society) jouent sur la même base.
Venir au monde (to be born) et mettre au monde (to give birth) sont des collocations importantes. Le monde entier (the whole world) et du monde entier (from all over the world) sont très fréquents dans les médias. C'est le meilleur du monde est une hyperbole affectueuse courante.
