Se introduces a real condition: se vi volas, ni iros. For an unreal or hypothetical one, both verbs take the conditional ending -us, as in se mi havus tempon, mi venus. English "if" also covers indirect questions, but Esperanto does not, so "I do not know if he came" is mi ne scias, ĉu li venis.
