Temps est un nom masculin singulier qui couvre deux sens principaux : le temps chronologique et la météo. Le s final est toujours muet. La locution de temps en temps (from time to time) et en même temps (at the same time) sont très fréquentes dans la conversation ordinaire.
Il est temps de + infinitif exprime la nécessité urgente : il est temps de partir. Dans les études linguistiques, temps désigne aussi le temps grammatical (tense). La polysémie avec la météo est unique au français par rapport à l'anglais qui distingue time et weather.
