Savoir se distingue de connaître : savoir porte sur des faits, des informations ou des compétences (je sais que, je sais comment, je sais nager) ; connaître porte sur la familiarité avec des personnes, des lieux ou des oeuvres (je connais Paris, je connais cet auteur).
Faire savoir (to let know, to inform) est la tournure causative. À savoir (namely, that is to say) est une locution de précision très utile à l'écrit : il faut trois choses, à savoir... Le conditionnel saurait dans ne saurait est une forme littéraire de négation forte : cela ne saurait suffire (that cannot possibly be enough).
